'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the dramatic final moments of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess quickly converted the deflection before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an extraordinary turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. During the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a upcoming fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after the team changed shape. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient approached the match.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they understand how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At the London club he linked up again with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that growth for club and country, shining for his national side, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the player from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they played on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was chilly," he comments, smiling. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged 16? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I reached the point where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the guys but I'm planning to be the following person to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
